Need for Speed: Shift is the very latest installment of the ever-popular Need for Speed series. It was released just a few days ago, in mid-September, 2009. It’s available on PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, PC, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Like many other Need for Speed games, Shift was a hit with critics and players alike. Respected video game review sites such as IGN and Xbox Magazine gave the new installment scores of 9/10, which is incredibly good in the world of video game reviews.

The game itself is very similar to older NFS games, but with some significant improvements. The graphics are phenomenal as usual, but there seems to be much more detail. For example, there is now a camera mode while you can see the wheel, speedometer, stick, etc. and even watch as the driver (you) turns his head. While this can be disconcerting at first, it’s very cool once you get used to it, and it makes the game feel very real.

As with all NFS games, there are many cars and tracks to choose from. There is also a lot to do in Shift, so you won’t get bored easily. It’s a great game, and if you are or ever have been a fan of Need for Speed I suggest picking up a copy for yourself!
